The first thing I want to recognize is that the staff at House of Globalization is willing to listen without judgment. I didn’t know what to expect from the staff when I got there. But it was the same friendliness and listening that I received from Ms. Vivian. She is kind and sensitive and very professional. Even though we were in a business environment, it was very family-oriented and consistent from beginning to end. She was personally looking out for me. Although I know she has other clients, it felt like I had her in my corner working just with me.
My experience as a battered woman started with verbal and physical abuse from my father, then it trickled down to abuse from my husband. At times it felt like I deserved it. When Ms. Vivian shared her experience with me, I wondered how someone so sweet could experience that. When she told me that I didn’t deserve the abuse, I started to believe her. I’m gradually getting better and loving myself.
I want to say THANK YOU to the House of Globalization. Every time I’ve called for assistance with food, finances, and transportation, they have helped. They even called to ask my grandkids’ clothing sizes and provided them with gifts on Christmas.
I’m thankful that the House of Globalization is there for me. I’ve been helped with my power and gas bills. They helped me with my son who is also a domestic violence survivor. They also offered assistance from a lawyer who could help me get my life back on track as far as legal matters go, like getting my driver’s license. The staff and I have had conversations about keeping my head up and not getting too overwhelmed. They encouraged me to believe that things will get better.
